Character history: (Note everything pre canon is head canon, as he has no official canon prior to Crisis Core)Reno's early history was spent as an only child of a prostitute in the Sector Seven slums. He learned very quickly how to survive on very little, and how to pickpocket those who came and went in the city to supplement his mother's meager income.


He left home at the age of 15 after his mother was killed by one of her tricks, surviving as a member of a gang for a time, until during a sweep of the city by Turks to eliminate some of the more problematic of the gangs Reno's own gang was targeted, and he escaped the purge by hiding in a closet. When he was discovered, he gave them a fight that very much impressed Tseng and the rest of the group with him.


From there he was taken into ShinRa headquarters to be trained as a Turk, and spent his first two years in what is essentially Basic Training, learning hand to hand combat, and weapons training. He was paired with Rude as his training was completed, something which had a rocky start, with the two different personalities, but eventually they learned to understand each other.


Reno has worked as a Turk for the ShinRa company for 7 years, since he was picked up from the slums at the age of 16. He performed various espionage related tasks during his time there, protecting the company's interests. Interrogations, hacking, and recon are his specialities, and he is also a very skilled helicopter pilot.


He had several noteable missions, the dropping of the support pillar on the Sector Seven plate being the one he would be most remembered for. He still regrets to some extent the circumstances which had led to those orders, and would have preferred those orders not have come down. Killing innocents deep down does not sit right with him at all.


His most recent assignment was using distractionary tactics against two of the three Sephiroth remnants so that Cloud could fight Kadaj, and then Kadaj-turned-Sephiroth later on undistracted by the other two. He also along with Rude set a bomb meant to eliminate the two on the overpass overlooking Edge. The last time he is seen is when the healing rain which cured the Geostigma epidemic fell, standing at his boss's side.

Character personality (please also include how the stress of incarceration and the Warden's interference may affect your character. We realize that character interaction may influence and change this, however, certain aspects of your character's personality may be considered constant): Reno is normally a happy go lucky sort, though it is expressed more in cocky smirks than true smiles. That arrogance is a front for a very decent and sensitive human being, however, though very few get to see the true person. He is not a trusting person by nature, something gleaned from years of having to survive on his own.


He can be depended upon to come through when everything goes to Hell around him, offering a shoulder to lean on, or an eye to watch your back during a fight. It's not until the crisis is over that the weariness shows, and even then only to close friends. Again, Reno does not tend to let his true emotions show to those outside his own little "family" unless in extremis or extremely inebriated.


He has a bit of a teasing streak with those younger than him, which is clearly demonstrated in the way he picks on Elena sometimes, but it is all good natured. Reno has a good heart, really, he just tends to be very playful.


He is FIERCELY protective of those who have managed to get close, however, and has a quick and volatile temper when those he loves are threatened, becoming what can almost be termed a force of nature when those close to him have been hurt.Loyalty to friends and those he cares for deeply, as well as a very quick brain when it comes to dealing with people are two of his greatest strengths. Reno is also extremely fast and agile physically. He is also quite good at talking his way out of difficult situations, and is also an extremely accomplished pilot, able to fly through storms if need be. of course The downside to that quickness is that Reno can sometimes be extremely impulsive, and on occasion clumsy.

He also has a tendency to let that temper get the best of him, which can get him into trouble with superiors and coworkers. One of his other major weaknesses is on the occasions when he does finally begin to lose his composure, he flies into the face of danger with a recklessness that is often times scary. Reno when angered severely or upset is a force to be reckoned with, to be certain, but he is also much less likely to watch himself, which means he leaves many more openings for an enemy to exploit.


Reno does have some issues with authority, and is likely to be a less than model prisoner due to that fact. He is not likely to fight the other prisoners, but it's possible he could attack the wardens if pressed. If backed into a corner he has a tendency to panic, though not visibly, which could also be problematic.


Reno also has a soft spot for kids, though it doesn't show very often, and will protect them if he can do so without getting anyone else killed.

Physical description:Reno's most distinguishing feature is his bright red hair, feathered into spikes on top, long in the back terminating in a long rat tail tied back with a ponytail elastic reaching to mid back. (yes, the hair is natural)

He has eyes that are very unusual color, a mix between green and blue that can appear more green or blue depending on how the light catches them. In office lighting, they tend to appear more green, but out in natural daylight they are closer to blue. Those eyes are almond shaped, and set deep in the face. They have distinct epicanthel folds to the eyelids, giving him an almost asian appearence.


The face itself is pale, as is the rest of his skin, the color of fresh milk, and he has a smattering of freckles over his nose and cheeks.The delicate features, with high cheekbones, and tapered jawline, give his face an almost feminine look, though the expressions he normally wears, the full lips curled into a sneer or a smirk much of the time, make one realize he is indeed quite male.


He is quite thin, almost looking anorexic at times, though underneath the suit coat and the shirt is a firm and wiry musculature that gives him a graceful speed that has served him quite well in his time. He is built for feats of agility rather than brute strength.

Magical powers or special skills: Reno has an electricity based limit break that is naturally occuring, triggered by the flooding of the circulation with adrenaline. He also has the use of elemental magic, but only when he has access to his materia.

He is also naturally very fast and agile.

Third-Person Sample (General RP):

Sometimes Reno just didn't understand why he didn't do something else for a living. .. perhaps something a little more safe? As he hung from the strut of the helicopter, crimson droplets falling like rain drops down onto the plate below, the question came to his mind again, but with the wind whipping through his scarlet locks, he had his answer. It was the adrenaline. The whistling of the wind as he looked down about took Reno's breath away. He and heights did not have the best of relationships anyway, and hanging onto the strut of a helicopter in mid air waiting for someone to help him up only excerbated that phobia to a great degree, not that he was about to admit that. He winced as Tseng finally got up out of his seat and grabbed the dislocated arm to haul him up into the chopper."Gods be DAMNED, fuck, Tseng, couldn't ya at least have grabbed the arm that AIN'T hangin' loose?" The complaint was of course one that he knew Tseng would completely have
expected, after all this was RENO he was dealing with. It was when he WASN'T complaining that one really had to worry, because the only times Reno ever really shut up were when he was asleep, unconscious, severely emotionally troubled, or dead. Even though right now his ribs ached as if he'd been beaten with a bludgeon, and he was choking on his own blood at the moment, the adrenaline rush had him grinning like a loon. The cooling wash of a third level Cure spell eased the pain to some extent, forcing Reno to turn his head to Tseng and utter a quiet thank you. which was something he probably should have expected.




As the injuries were counted up, Reno gave a soft mutter of frustration. A punctured lung from the Braver Cloud had pulled off just before the chopper had swung around to pick him up, a dislocated shoulder from taking his full weight on the joint as he'd leapt from the plate to get aboard, as well as multiple cuts and bruises from Tifa's fists and a bullet in his leg from Barret's last minute desperation shots. He'd be out for at least two weeks, probably closer to a month. "Well at least I ain't dead." he murmured, only to quirk a brow at the expression from Rude.


"What? It ain't like this is the first time I been hurt? Stop mother hennin' for fuck's sake. I'll be fine, just need a little bitta time." He completely had faith in that much. Reno was, and always had been, a survivor.

First-Person Sample (Journal entry):I really don't know how I manage to get myself into these situations. All I came here for was a damn drink, just one fuckin' shot of something strong before I went back to my own overly fucking quiet apartment to TRY to get some sort of rest that doesn't involve a trip down memory lane.

Somehow, I ended up on the frankly quite filthy floor of this fucking club instead bleeding in more places than I thought I even possessed, leaving me to wonder what the FUCK God I pissed off in order to deserve this. Ah well, Rude'll be here soon, he'll get me home, get my ass patched up. I have no idea how the Hell he puts up with me, but he does, and I owe him more than I could ever tell him for that. More than I ever WOULD tell him, even. Vision's goin' dark, I sure as Hell hope he gets here soon. I'll talk ta him in the group room when we get back, thank him for this.
